I've Got an Alibi!

Hi Everybody!

Well, no new work on novels and short stories this week. But I've got an alibi...

I was out of town on a photo shoot for the paying job! I was at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport working with the airport's fire department on photography for Facility Fire Brigades, 2nd edition. Over the course of the week, I shot photos for 55 skill sheets and for numerous chapter photo needs. I believe I can truthfully say I got enough photos for about 40% of FFB2! 

Tomorrow, I download the images, rename them, and begin sorting them into folders by topic. After that it's muddling through the master list, selecting photos for figure references, storyboarding, documenting the images selected, and getting the storyboards to Graphics!

There WILL BE personal writing this week! I had a number of ideas for three of my stories that I need to get into my outlines ASAP. This will be FUN!

A New Direction...or Perhaps, a Redirection!

I remember when I met G. Harry Stine and he told me that he once had a story that was giving him trouble. When he'd get stuck, he'd literally put the pages on a shelf above his writing desk. When he thought he had a way forward with it, he'd pull it down and try again. (He ultimately published it under his Lee Correy psuedonym as a Star Trek: The Original Series book titled "The Abode of Life".)

Well, after a few weeks of frustration and no new work on America: We WERE Warned!, I'm "putting it on the shelf"! It's just not coming together. 

On the flip side, I have a couple of ideas I want to try with The Arizona Territorial Marshals! Maybe the Muse will be more helpful with this project than A:WWW. 

Additionally, I want to get back to the Camadin Station series and I had another interesting idea pop up for a potential Young Adult series. 

Let's see if I can get some words "on paper"! (Okay, into a digital file then!)

If Spring isn't in the air yet, pollens and molds most definitely ARE! My allergy meds seem to be working though and I was even able to mow and weed-whack the yards without having an allergy attack. HUZZAH!!!

Greetings Everyone!

Coming off of a major photo shoot for a project always leaves me wiped out. The photo shoot in Houston went quite well and this past week was spent downloading, renaming, organizing, selecting, and storyboarding images for use in two chapters. More of the same this week for several more chapters!

With all this time spent on photography, I haven't spent any time working on the new personal projects. Shame on me! Hopefully things will go better this week!

I'm BACK!

Greetings!

Thought I'd do a quick update on the "Meanderings of a Middle Age Mind". It's been a busy couple of weeks on the work front but definitely slow on the writing/self-publishing side of things.

Spent this past week in Houston, Texas, on a photo shoot for Facility Fire Brigades, 2nd edition. It was a terrific shoot! We had some great folks helping us and we returned home with more than 2,700 images. Now comes the fun part of downloading, renaming, and organizing, then selecting images and storyboarding to get them to Graphics. Whee!!!

Meanwhile, my books are still out there on Amazon, just waiting for readers to partake of them. The books are available in paperback and e-book formats. Week One Report

So this week I worked on the Arizona Territorial Marshals novel and actually made some headway! Not a lot, but some. From zero pages to 5 pages written and in the can. I set the stage and introduced the first group of characters.

This next week will be spent working on America: We WERE Warned! and trying to get some pages in the can for that book. Let's see what gets done.

I'm Gonna Try Something New!

Last week was a little rough on me. (Okay, to be honest, if was REAL rough on me!) Stress from my primary job definitely made my evenings a time for rest and relaxation, not writing. Then good news arrived late in the week and thing have gotten a little better. since. But I'm still finding it difficult to get myself centered in order to write.

So, I tried something new today. I sat down, opened up the digital file for The Arizona Territorial Marshals, and began putting into that documents some thoughts that have been pinging around in my mind for the last couple of weeks. By the time I stopped, I had 2 1/4 pages written! I probably could have kept on writing if I wasn't so darned tired and was afraid of what would come out onto the page if I keep on typing away.

So the new game plan is as follows:
- I'll spend this week working on The Arizona Territorial Marshals...
- Then next week, I'll work on American: We WERE Warned!
- Then wash, rinse, and repeat!

This way I can make headway on BOTH projects!!!

Will keep you posted on how it turns out.

Looks like photography may finally get fully underway for Facility Fire Brigades 2nd. I have a major photo shoot at the end of the month. Then a second a month later, followed by a third a month after that. I hope to do a couple of smaller shoots between each of the large ones to add to the images we need for the manual.
